Breakthrough

This should be short and quick as I really should be getting my young son in the bath. He's not unhappy, relishing an extra few moments playing cars I think!

But if this blog is about plotting the journey and setting down memory stones, I have to blog this afternoon's breakthrough. If you read the forums you may have already 'heard' me feeling very sorry for myself earlier.

I was moaning to God too and said that if He wanted me to do this degree He'd have to help me because I'm struggling with time management and juggling home commitments and children commitments and sleep commitments.

Fast forward an hour or so and having recognised that my attempt at the OT exegesis in unit 4 was rubbish I decided to approach it like I used to approach head stuff in college 10 years ago: make notes. I am a list person, it really helps me process and remember stuff.

I don't know why I decided to do it now (when I should be thinking about putting the children to bed!) but I got my journal and wrote a step by step plan for epistle exegesis and narrative exegesis. For the latter, the guidelines really helped me see how what I'd learned about plot and charaterization could be wrapped up into an exegesis.

Seeing it all laid out like that it seems to make sense. I appreciate that this is probably such a simple to thing to those students who've been at this for some time but if that's the case, remember how you felt when you did your first one? Remember how elated you felt when the points you got down weren't that dissimilar to your tutor? The big grin and happy, thankful prayers to God?

That's where I'm at right now and it's great :D Praise God x
