Hi,
This post is totally unrelated to my studies but God was very awesome today so I wanted to share with someone who'd like a smile.

Quick bit of background info: We've set up a charity in church called Give A Brick. It supports community projects as an expression of Jesus' love and the first project being supported is the building of an annex to the rear of the church to house a community centre for the local area here in Cross Hands for things like parents and toddler groups, youth clubs, meals for the elderly etc.

The whole project needs just 100,000 people to give 1 brick (£1) and so far we've raised £20,000 which has allowed the foundations to be laid.

As well as being a mum and studying, I'm also a supply teacher. I just work the odd day here and there and today was a day for working. As I was driving to school this thought popped into my head that maybe the school might consider holding a non-uniform day in aid of Give A Brick.

However, I know from previous experience that most schools decide what charities to support months in advance therefore I didn't want to go in making this request without some support. I phoned home and gave a message to my brother-in-law asking him to pray and to ask my mum and sister to do the same.

As I was waiting for my timetable I started writing an email to my dad with the same request. However, I had to stop half way through writing to speak to another member of staff (he asked me to register 11C) and to go and see the admin lady and sign my form.

I asked Shirley (the admin lady) about who I should speak to about a non-uniform day and she said I needed to see the head. He would be around shortly and I should hover near his office. I had a problem. I had to go and register 11C. As I'm pondering what to do, the same gentleman who asked me to register came up and said I didn't need to do it after all. Result!

So I hovered and hovered some more and eventually the head arrived. I made my request and in short, he said yes!

The long answer is that he wants some information about the charity on paper first so he has an audit trail but the essence of his answer was still very positive!

I went back to my half-constructed email to my dad and told him that instead of praying asking for help, he just needed to praise God for answered prayer!

What a brilliant start to what has turned out to be a great day!

Later, I got to talk to a year 10 girl about Jesus and prayer and later still, another group of year 10 pupils agreed to become fans of Give A Brick on Facebook! All in all, a very good day!

BTW, I'm a music teacher. How does a music teacher end up talking to a 15 year old girl about Jesus and prayer?! That's God for you ;)

Off to bed now but thanks for reading.
