Certificate in Theology

This is where you set out on the degree course.  You will need to study for 120 credits from the modules on the list.

The Certificate in Theology is awarded to students who have demonstrated the ability to:

  • describe, analyse and interpret the basic concepts and principles of Christian theology and the contexts in which it is practised
  • investigate issues and present arguments through an approach based on critical enquiry
  • exercise basic skills in Christian service in an informed, appropriate and credible manner

There are now two routes through the level 4 modules. Students choose to work for a Certificate in Theology with or without a specialism in Preaching. The previous specialism in Evangelism is no longer offered. To achieve a Certificate 120 credits are required.

The University of Wales registration fee for the Certificate level is £147.  This fee needs to be paid to Spurgeon's College, which is responsible for forwarding registration fees directly to the University.  We recommend that you register once you have completed one or two modules at this level.  You then gain access to the University's own Online resources.

Individual module prices are listed in the drop down menu.

We recommend that you study the modules in the order they are listed in the drop down menu.  Most students therefore begin with Reading and Using the Bible.
