New to Blogging
John Nel's Blog! By John777 on 13/05/2011 22:40

Well, here we go! I'm new to this whole blog thing, but hopefully as I study and walk with God my thoughts and ideas will lead others to walk closer with God.

A couple of days ago I studied Matthew 5:43-47, not only was I deeply moved and convicted; but I realized this for me is a very hard thing to do. Loving your enemies and praying for those who persecute you. Wow! I don't think I'm the only one who finds this hard.

I must confess that I do tend to take things personal, I'm often ashamed when I think about what Jesus went through on the cross. Leaving His heavenly glory to become a man to save those who will accept Him in faith. And yet He is rejected by so many. We have so much to be gratefull for.

Anyway I'm not sure how I can get better at "loving my enemies". I'll have to make it a matter of prayer and seek God's help. I'm just glad Je ...

Worship - Big Business?
Singing the Lord's Song in a Strange Land By Nigel Wiggins on 9/14/2010 11:08 AM

It's becoming quite clear now that praise & worship music is BIG business. It's not just found in christian bookshops and heared on niche radio stations like UCB. Just like in the USA, it's becoming more prominant in the mainstream media channels.  Tom Jones's weekend appearance in the Help for Heros concert highlighted this with the inclusion of a gospel song from his new album Praise & Blame.

Also interesting to see how in recent years, big churches like Rick Warren's Saddleback church enter into endorsement deals with companies like Yamaha. Yamaha aren't a charity - they exist to make money and must believe that there's money to be made in marketing to churches.  An endorsement from Saddleback will carry a lot of weight. When searching for acoustic guitar ...

Navel Gazing By drowden3339 on 20/08/2010 17:28

Having just got back into study after a 20 year break to say I am rusty would be like saying the "Go Compare" man is loud. "No Really" ?

The only critical analysis I ever did is " Was he offside or not". As for writing assignments, I have trouble writing a post card let alone 1500 words. The only studying I ever did was making sure the utilities were'nt charging me too much. The only notes I ever bothered about were the ones in my pocket. I think you get the picture.

So how does a 1970s guy get into 21st century studying? With difficulty!!

Anyway here goes, I have Fee's book, A good Bible(with study notes..ooooh! ), Chambers & Northedges Good Study Guide ( 1p off Amazon ), a pad and pen and my online module.

All I need now is a brain and I am ready go.

Wait for the next instalment of Navel Gazing, and hey "Be careful out there & ...
