Hi
can anyone help me? I've just started to do my first assignment which is supposed to be 750 words on exegesis and 750 words on hermeneutics. I'm using the structure in the UtB modules which included 'contribution to this book' and 'contribution otous today'. Do both of these class as hermeneutics or just the latter? Also I can't find any guidelines in the course material to do with hermeneutics although admittedly I'm only on Unit 5. I've managed to get 900 words on the exegesis and about 400 on the hermeneutics so far and am strugglling to get a better balance.
Any thoughts anyone?
thanks

Hello Janie,
Well hopefully it is not too late to respond! Personally I think it is beneficial to go through the entire course before you start thinking too much on the assignments. Allow yourself the opportunity to take all of it in and then after your review (which is at the end of the course) go back and take a look at what interest you.
If you are using the Fee book I believe you will find plenty on the exegesis part and some on the hermeneutics too. Just keep in mind the exegesis deals with what was being said by the author to his audience at that time whereas the hermeneutics part ask how can we apply that today, or how can that play into today's world. Frankly, it may not be a good match for today.
I am in the second module, Paul, at this point and about 1/2 way through. Terrific module.
Best of luck. Don't get me wrong I was petrified of doing the assignments, but I am sure it gets a little easier over time.....or does it?
Blessings,
Joe
