"Prayer Warriors"
QuoteReply
We have a Church member who has just celebrated her 100th birthday and at the Alpha Course last night, the leader commented that she still prays, even though she can't remember people's names, she just prays for "all the people in my Church". He said that in her younger days, she was a real "prayer warrior" and was very active in evangelistic work.

A few years ago, we had a bedridden lady in her eighties, who lived in a Nursing Home and could never attend our Church, but was still a member. She prayed for everyone and all the Church activities and she also wrote many letters and poems, which encouraged others. Although she had no close family, at her funeral the Church was packed with people who she has corresponded with over the years and there was genuine sadness at her passing.

I don't think we should underestimate the value of prayer, or the contributions made by elderly people in Church, who may provide friendship and support for others, even though they are frail and unable to do much in a physical sense.
