How to Apply

Applying for Online Learning with Spurgeon's College could not be easier. You will be guided through the process one step at a time. All you need to do is:

1.Fill in the Application Form

2. Submit the Application Form

3. Go to 'My Profile' and follow the instructions

Where should you start?

If you feel confident beginning at University Certificate level, we suggest that you start with the module 'Reading and Using the Bible'.

If you have any worries about your ability to cope or if you have not studied to A level (or equivalent), we suggest that you begin with the 'Access Module'.  This is a gentle introductory module which concentrates on ensuring that you have appropriate study skills in place to progress successfully to Certificate level.

When should you register with the University?

Our Undergraduate course is validated by the University of Wales.  You do not need to register as a student with the University of Wales until you are confident that you will complete the Certificate. Once you have got a module or two under your belt, you can then register with the University.  You will need to contact our Academic Registrar, Mrs Nicky Cameron, by email n.cameron@spurgeons.ac.uk. She will provide you with the necessary documentation and will register you with the University. The admissions policy can be accessed by this link.

If you do not think you will gain enough credits to work for a University Certificate, you can opt to study for the Spurgeon's Award in Christian Studies which is an internal award made by Spurgeon's College.

If you need any more information or advice, simply contact the Spurgeon's Online Administrator, Emma George 0208 683 8470 or email: e.george@spurgeons.ac.uk, or email the Director of Spurgeon's Online, Dr. Debra Reid: d.reid@spurgeons.ac.uk.

English Language Requirement

Although no formal language requirement is stipulated for undertaking an Online module, it is our experience that if students are successfully to complete a University Certificate (or above) they require an IELTS score of an average of 6.5 and the score for the reading and writing bands must be 6.5 or more.

Time-limits

Although you have flexibility about your study programme and can decide for yourself the speed at which you wish to study, there are some time limits for University awards which are explained by following this link.

Credit Transfer

Credit Transfer (sometimes referred to as Advanced Standing) is available to students who have completed previous theological study at a recognised higher education institution. If you consider that your previous study may entitle you to credit transfer, please complete the Credit Transfer Application Form by clicking this link and email the completed form to Mrs Nicky Cameron (n.cameron@spurgeons.ac.uk).  NB The maximum number of credits which may be transferred into a University of Wales award is 240.
